FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the catch?

We are told the value for our solution is unmatched in the industry. That’s because the per-person cost of a Balance Employee Assistance Program is the same for companies regardless of size. The cost is so fair that people sometimes say, “What’s the catch?” There is no catch. No eye-popping minimum fee.

Do you have a way to rollout the EAP to my group?

Posted on the wellbeing website is a 13:45 minute voice-over orientation. In addition to the video, you will receive an announcement flyer, brochures, and wallet cards.

I want to promote the EAP. Do you have anything to help me with that?

After the initial roll out you will receive a monthly newsletter to share with your team. The newsletter is a good way to keep the EAP top of mind when the need arises.

Do you need a list of employee names?

No. Unlike medical insurance the EAP just needs a total number of employees and a contact person.

Are my part time employees included?

That’s your choice. When you register, indicate how many people you want to cover and decide how you will communicate your decision. Most companies offer it to everyone.

Are the counseling sessions by phone?

We offer both face-to-face and telephonic sessions. Telephonic counseling has gained recent popularity.

How many counselors do you have?

We contract with hundreds of counselors, nationwide, representing a variety of specialties and attributes. For example, it’s not unusual for someone to be gender specific when making a counseling request.

How will I know if my employees use the program?

You won’t. You will only know if they tell you. All EAP services are confidential. However, an annual utilization report will summarize participation by your entire EAP group.

What if nobody uses it?

That’s possible. Companies that have an EAP regard it like AAA. It’s there when you need it. Here’s an example: The school calls one of your employees to report that their teenager has expressed suicide ideation to his peers. For his safety the school can only release him to a parent. In this unexpected moment of panic, your team member is grateful to have an Employee Assistance Program. And, so are you.

We random screen for drugs. Do you have counselors for that?

Yes. In fact, we recommend all companies develop a policy for corrective action that permits a mandated referral to the EAP.

I have employees who speak Spanish. Can they use the EAP?

Yes. We have foreign language interpreters for 240 languages and the wellbeing website has Spanish language content.

Is the EAP positioned to support individuals who are seeking abortion related services in their state?

Balance EAP is positioned to support service requests that are generated from concerns related to the Roe v Wade decision.

Those concerns may be and are not limited to: clinics, transportation, overnight accommodations, legal advice, financial aid, support organizations, abortion pills, information services, social services, adoption…

We are guessing the initial legal questions will come from those states making abortion illegal and/or changing their requirements. With the new ruling, there are more questions than answers right now. The team will be monitoring referral activity in these regards, which will in time give us a better sense of questions and needs.

To clarify, we do have many civil, family, & criminal attorneys within our network who can address legal issues related to the recent overturning of Roe v Wade.  If a member believes they need to consult with an attorney regarding the Roe v Wade decision we are happy to find them the provider that best suits their needs.

We help solve the challenges people bring to work!
